More Joys and Sorrows of Authorship

The next best thing to being talked about in the press is having your book talked about. Check out http://www.newmedia.com/default.asp?articleID=2725 where you can read a review of "Essential Business Tactics f/t Net," penned by yours truly and WDFM's Managing Editor Eileen Shulock.

I just love it when reviewers poke me for being too over- the-top in the self-promotional department;). Anyway, thank you to Bob Woods and Internet.com's New Media publication.

Book Signings: Join Eileen Shulock and me as we give short presentations and serve fancy cookies at Borders World Trade Towers, 5 World Trade Center near Centre & Vessey Streets on Thursday, June 7th at 12:30 PM.

Doing book signings is much fun. After all, anyone who comes to a data warehouse (which is really what a book store is) to browse knowledge, drink coffee and bump into other like-minded people is bound to be an interesting character.

I learn much on these book signing missions. I try out new material that I wouldn't think of testing on paid gigs. Also, the groups are usually small enough to have open, spontaneous discussions. From these discussions I'm learning lots about what's going on out there and what's on people's minds.

Right now I'm seeing lots of smart people wondering which way to take their careers next. They typically range from 25-50 or so. Most seem to not be waiting for a job but rather getting their consulting act in order and packaging themselves up for what they think the marketplace will buy from them. I notice that tough times seem to sharpen wits.

Lots of people at these book signings are asking me what skill sets I think are needed to thrive in the months and years ahead. I find myself always advising to bone up on the time-honored skills of direct marketing, as this Internet thing is all about response or the lack thereof. BTW, you can read the entire Direct Marketing chapter of my book free at http://larrychase.com/chapter.html. Enjoy. And please think about buying my book and helping me get that Amazon Sales Ranking to a respectable level. It's been hovering around 30,000 for weeks, and I'm just fit to be tied. I'm quite certain now that Amazon makes lots of money from authors buying their own books there to see the ranking improve. I confess to having done it on many occasions.

When and if you do buy my book online, do forward me a copy of your confirmation, if you like, and I will reply with a personal thank you. It will not be a bot reply. It will be me. Thanks for your consideration.
